Open Access Policy
Olympus Open is committed to advancing the frontiers of knowledge and ensuring maximum accessibility, visibility, and impact of research across all scientific, engineering, and technological fields. Upholding the principles of open access, Olympus Open provides immediate, free, and unrestricted access to all content published within its journals, ensuring that authors' works reach the widest possible audience and that the public can access and benefit from this knowledge without financial, legal, or technical barriers.
Principles of Open Access
-
Immediate Access: All articles published in Olympus Open journals are made available on the respective journal’s website immediately upon publication, without subscription fees or registration barriers.
-
Licensing: Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), which permits use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. This promotes the sharing and reuse of information while ensuring that authors receive credit for their work.
-
Authorship Rights: Authors retain copyright of their work, granting the journal a license to publish the article and acknowledging that any third-party use of the work is subject to proper citation.
-
Archiving: Olympus Open supports the digital preservation of its publications through database archiving and encourages authors to archive the final published version of their articles in personal or institutional repositories.
Benefits of Open Access
-
Enhanced Visibility: Open access publication ensures that articles receive the highest possible visibility and accessibility, contributing to increased readership and impact.
-
Increased Citation: Research has shown that open access articles are cited more frequently than articles behind paywalls, thereby enhancing the dissemination and impact of research findings.
-
Public Good: By providing free access to research findings, especially those funded by public agencies, open access serves the public interest and supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Publication Fees
To support the open access model and cover the costs of publication, including peer review, journal production, and online hosting and archiving, Olympus Open journals charge an Article Processing Charge (APC) for each manuscript accepted for publication. The APC is payable only after the manuscript has undergone peer review and is accepted for publication. Details of the current APC, including any available waivers or discounts for authors from low-income countries or those facing financial hardships, can be found on the journal's website.
Compliance with Open Access Mandates
Olympus Open complies with open access mandates from research funding agencies and institutions and supports authors in meeting their policy obligations by enabling the deposit of published articles in institutional or funded repositories.
