Copyright and Licensing Policy
Olympus Open is committed to the widespread dissemination of research findings while ensuring that authors' rights are protected and their work is distributed under clear and transparent terms. This policy outlines the copyright and licensing arrangements for the publication and distribution of research work in all journals under Olympus Open.
Copyright
Upon acceptance of an article for publication, copyright is automatically retained by the authors. Simultaneously, an exclusive publishing license is granted to Olympus Open. This arrangement permits the journals to publish and distribute the manuscript and associated materials while allowing authors to retain copyright over their work. Authors are entitled to share, copy, and distribute the published article in various formats, provided the original work is properly cited and not used for commercial purposes. This policy ensures that authors' rights are protected while enabling the journal to disseminate and utilize the content effectively.
Licensing
Olympus Open adopts the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0) for all its publications, unless otherwise specified. This license allows for non-commercial sharing, copying, distribution, and adaptation of the work, provided the original work and source are properly cited. It ensures maximum dissemination and a broader impact of the published material under non-commercial terms.
Author Rights
Authors who publish with Olympus Open retain several key rights, including:
- The right to reproduce, distribute, perform, and display the published work in teaching, conference presentations, lectures, and other scholarly activities, as long as these are non-commercial.
- The right to prepare derivative works from the published work, with appropriate acknowledgment of its initial publication in the journal.
- The right to deposit or archive the published article in institutional, funding body, or other repositories of their choice, providing public access to the work under non-commercial terms.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are responsible for ensuring their work is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must be ensured, and any necessary permissions must be obtained. Any potential conflicts of interest must be clearly stated upon submission.
Use of Published Articles
Under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license, non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium are permitted, provided the original author and source are credited.
Archiving and Access
Olympus Open is committed to the long-term preservation of published articles, ensuring they remain accessible to the scientific community, researchers, and the public under non-commercial terms.
This policy underscores the commitment of Olympus Open to credit authors for their work while facilitating the dissemination of research findings widely under non-commercial conditions. Authors are encouraged to fully understand their rights and responsibilities under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
